Per Gunnar Petersson (b. 1954) is a Swedish composer and church musician. He was educated at the Academy of Music in Vienna with Anton Heiller, at Lund University, and at the Malmö Academy of Music. He also studied composition privately with Knut Nystedt in Norway. From 1978 to 2018, Petersson was organist and choirmaster for the parish of Älmhult, Sweden. He has been active in the leadership of various organizations, serving as chairman of the Swedish Organ Society, vice president of the Church Musicians’ Association, and a board member of the Swedish Church Music Council and the Church of Sweden Choral Association. As a composer, Petersson has published numerous works, primarily choral and organ music.
