Description: | Domenico Zipoli (17 October 1688 – 2 January 1726) was an Italian Baroque composer who worked and died in Córdoba, in the Viceroyalty of Peru, Spanish Empire, (presently in Argentina). He became a Jesuit in order to work in the Reductions of Paraguay where he taught music among the Guaraní people. He is remembered as the most accomplished musician among Jesuit missionaries.
In wanting to find another item or two to demonstrate the Weissenau organ, I found this charming "Pastorale," which apparently is fairly well-known, although I've never heard it before.
In this performance you'll hear several combinations of flute stops, as well as some solo voices, particularly the Flautravers of the Positiv and the Schalmei of the Echo.
I've attached the score, which includes other items, but to be honest, this edition doesn't seem like it will be all that useful, as you'll see if you care to look at it.
Also attached are two pictures of Domenico Zipoli.
I dedicate this upload to Alberto and Pietro, two outstanding members and musicians.
BRAVO and THANKS to both! |
