Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor BWV 582 needs no introduction. This is one of my favorite works, and I most recently performed it live on the exciting Rieger organ of St. Michael's Church, Dun Laoighre, Ireland: I have had the privelege of practicing and performing on that instrument, and the unique Rieger sound is something I do enjoy.
0:00 | Passacaglia

This sample-set from Inspired Acoustics captures a large 4-manual instrument, installed in 1999 for Scot's Church, in Melbourne Australia. A versatile, contemporary instrument, it features the characteristic Rieger sparkle and fire.
The organ is naturally in a relatively dry accoustic, so for this performance, I have used Hauptwerk's convolution reverb features to virtually place the organ in the reverberant space of the Martinikerk in Groningen. (The crazy things technology now allows us to do!)
Internally, I route the individual manuals to separate busses, front and rear, and then apply the appropriate convolution reverb to each bus to create a sound with which I am quite pleased in this case!
