And now a song from the romantic period. The melody is from 1819 and was written by Enzelling. Schill, a ghostly voice - or "Do not lament when I fall".
The piece is in the form A-B-A-C-A.
A is the simple melody, which I set to 4 voices one year ago.
B is a trio, very fast to play (with 96/4 pm).
C finally is the biggest part. A sweeping double fugue in 4 voices. Almost brutal is the pedal part, which mercilessly demands virtuosity. Actually only to be played with the hands - and - thanks to MIDI - placed in the pedal .... This piece actually only sounds good on this "dry" organ sample.
