After a complete harddisk (ssd) crash putting back the image file took somewhat more time than I imagined: almost 9 hours. and two tries before it succeeded.

The ssd, a Western Digital, was just two years old. I cannot imagine they only last that short, so this could be a rotten exception

I advise everbody to backup your complete disk to an external harddisk disk every month at least: otherwise the re-installation will take even longer from the original media and all settings will be lost as well.
