Description: | This is the last movement of Christopher Steel's 1980 suite, "Changing Moods".
His web-site describes him as "arguably one of the most outstanding British composers of his generation, but I have to confess that, until I heard this piece at a recital a few years ago, I didn't remember of ever having heard of him. I'm suitably shamed by my ignorance.
When I looked at the score again this afternoon, I decided, perhaps unwisely, that some of my original fingerings weren't very sensible, so I changed them ... with the result that my fingers and my brain were conflicting at times.
There's a YouTube recording of the composer playing, or at least collaborating in a performance of, this piece where it's taken quite a bit faster ... but isn't a lot more accurate. So I'm comforted by that. |
