American composer James Gilbert (b. 1962) is a native of Florida and has been active as a pianist, organist, teacher, composer, arranger, orchestrator, and music typesetter/editor. He was educated at Stetson University and the University of Miami. As an early computer and internet adopter, Gilbert was the creator of “The Gilbert Links” (ca. 1995), an award-winning website from the world-wide-web’s early days. As an educator, Gilbert has taught music in schools and maintained an active private music studio. A composer since age 9, Gilbert has written classical and pop works in many genres. His compositions have been published by Theodore Presser, Lorenz, Broadman Press/Lifeway, and his own James Gilbert Music.
