Hymns to Help Us Through – #44 – “The Star-Spangled Banner”...

Hello, everyone!!

Well, okay, this is ‘exactly’ a hymn. Sometimes, when it’s played by some musicians, it sounds more like a march than a national anthem or hymn! Even so, after I voted today, I wanted to share our beloved national anthem – which REALLY sounds great on this French pipe organ! (By the way, this is the way it’s supposed to be played – no offense to my friends overseas who usually play it incorrectly.) :)

By the way, you’ll definitely want to use headphones – the sound of this pipe organ is amazing!! (Be sure to start the volume low.) The words for today’s hymn are below, in case you want to sing along! :)

O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
what so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
o’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say does the star-spangled banner yet wave
o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heaven-rescued land
praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
and this be our motto, “In God is our trust!”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
