Description: | As already promised, here now comes the folk anthem of Denmark.
The text was written in 1819 by Adam Oehlenschläger, and Hans Ernst Krøyer set it to music around 1835. The hymn became popular after it was sung by students at a folk festival in Skamlingsbanken on July 4, 1844.[1]
In the Kingdom of Denmark, the royal anthem Kong Kristian stod ved højen mast is also used. The Royal Anthem is played on official occasions when the monarch or members of the Danish royal family are present. The Royal Anthem is also played during fleet visits and military sports events. At all other civil occasions, e.g. sporting events, "Der er et yndigt land" is played.
The piece of music consists of 5 verses, which sound in the order A-B-A-C-A. "A" is the song movement, B is a trio on the melody and "C" is a fugato. "B" and "C" are played on the positive of the Friesach organ, which is registered with some woodwinds. "A" sounds with almost full organ (the swell is coupled with the Hauptwerk), and in the concluding hymns the trombone 16" and the trumpet 8" comes into play.
