Description: | Well, here is something a little different for Theatre Organ - some Max Reger. No - Not the spider in an inkwell Reger, but the gentle choral Reger. This is a Christmas lullaby published in 1912, Maria Wiegenlied, or the "Virigin's Slumber Song", written for voice and piano.
Perhaps counterintuitively I have chosen our largest instrument to play this delicate piece. With 16 ranks of strings, and duclianas, and lieblich flutes, and four voxes, etc etc, there is a wealth of gently tones to play with. I just love the shimmer of those 4 ranks of Kimball strings.
So, pour yourself a glass of mulled wine. Sit by the log fire and enjoy some gentle Christmas cheer !! |
