Eric Sweeney (1948–2020) — Down the Ladder (2013) for organ
Irish composer Eric Sweeney (1948–2020) was born in Dublin and lived in Waterford from 1981 where he was Head of Music at Waterford Institute of Technology until his retirement in 2010. He also taught at the Dublin College of Music and Trinity College and served as Choral Director for RTE Irish Radio) from 1978–81. He frequently visited North America and held residencies at a number of American institutions. Sweeney served as organist and choirmaster at Christ Church Cathedral in Waterford and studied organ with W. S. Greig, Flor Peeters, and Fernando Germani. He gave organ recitals throughout the world and was particularly known for his improvisations to silent movies.
