This piece comes up in many guises: As an authentic performance with instruments of the period, as film music (an ultra fast modern version), for organ (often with added percussion) and for piano.
I believe that by far the best version on YouTube is that by Farancois Xavier Roth where he deconstructs the whole piece gradually building up to the full score arrangement.
I have done the same for organ and added the Turkish Crescent, Tambour etc. on top.
The Prosser organ that I used is a facsimile instrument from a small church in Somerset and I have used the "distant" setting. The instrument is quite remarkable in having a mere six stops and a pedal Bourdon yet it is capable of so much. When I first heard it being played some years ago, I was convinced that it was a small two manual.
Despite it's obvious limitations, it does the job for which it was intended, namely the needs of a small medieval Anglican country church and its congregation and choir.
