I don't know why these beautiful words come to mind when I think of this piece. It was a saying that adorned the prospectus of the beautiful romantic organ of St. George's Lutheran Church in Hattingen, Germany. I played that organ there in my youth more than 40 years ago.
I also loved Bach more than anything back then.
This chorale arrangement from Cantata 92 is more than a typical Bach - the motif in the bass is a rolling, brilliant counterpoint to the chorale melody and the two instrumental parts.
I rediscovered my then arrangement today (after almost 30 years) and tuned it to the Friesach organ.
