2021 is the year that Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck died 400 years ago. His students were Heinrich Scheidemann and Samuel Scheidt. They influenced Buxtehude and Böhm, they influenced Bach etc etc. A founding father of organ and keyboard music, so to speak.
I admire his compositions a lot, not only because I'm from Holland, although there is some national pride involved :). Interpreting his music is not an easy task for me. You can certainly go different directions with the same piece (as I try to demonstrate with 3 versions of variation 1). Besides that, attention to detail is everything.
