Norbert Linke (1933–2020) — Heile Welt (Perfect World) (1980) for organ
German composer Norbert Linke (1933–2020) was born in Steinau/Oder (Lower Silesia, Poland) and educated at the State University in Hamburg where he studied with Ernst Gernot Klussmann and Philipp Jarnach. From 1962–64, he participated in the Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music where he took lessons with Pierre Boulez, György Ligeti, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. From 1962 to 1976, Linke taught music at schools in Hamburg and Darmstadt. From 1976 until his retirement, he was professor of music at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Linke was chairman of the Johann Strauss Society from 1985 to 1991. As a composer, his output includes works in all genres. Linke also published books on the music of Strauss, Schumann, and Lehár, among other musical topics.
