This is my favourite Trio Sonata movement. However in many professional performances 'Vivace' seems to be translated to 'Presto'. It seems to me a shame to treat such a beautiful piece like a race to the end. Surely 'Vivace' can be achieved through the energy and style of playing rather than speed?
I have found this very difficult, requiring more work and concentration than anything else I have done. A month of practicing and 100 recordings discarded later....it still has faults.
I chose this sample simply because for me it worked: it has a lot of clarity without being dry, the mutations are mild, the Cymbale gave me the sparkle I wanted, and I found the open flutes on the pedal provided a bass line which was firm enough without being edgy.
I hope you enjoy it and it has all been worthwhile.
