Johann Rudolph Ahle (1625-1673) was a German composer, organist and theorist. Much of Ahle's compositional output consists of sacred choral and vocal works, instrumental music and organ music. He is best known for his Neu-gepflanzte Thüringische Lust-Garten, a collection of motets and sacred concertos.
Through this collection I got to know him, thanks to a beautiful recording of Bach Collegium Japan. You can listen to a concerto of this collection here:

A beautiful example of early baroque music with these early cornetti and tromboni.
Back to this organ piece. At first sight I thought this piece was meant for one manual. But after trying different things I decided to go for the 'trio variant'.
