English musician Alastair Johnston (b. 1956) was born in London and was educated at Southampton University, King Alfred’s College Winchester, and Bath Spa University. From 1991 until his retirement in 2012, he was Head of Performing Arts at a large secondary school in Hampshire. As an organist, Johnston has played at St. Peter’s Church, Stourton, Wiltshire (near the Stourhead National Trust estate) for more than 25 years. He has contributed articles to various journals and was a regular CD reviewer for “Choir and Organ” magazine. As a composer, Johnston has written various organ, choral, and instrumental works, including incidental music for a production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
