Jan Nieland (1903–1963) — Fantasia (1962) for organ
Dutch composer and organist Jan Nieland (1903–1963) was born in Amsterdam and educated at the conservatory there. Nieland was an active organist and pianist and was particularly well-known throughout the Netherlands in the 1930s. He was a frequent collaborator with conductor Willem Mengelberg. As a composer, Nieland wrote a large amount of Roman Catholic service music, much of which was commissioned by and introduced to the USA by Omer Westendorf, the founder of World Library Publications. Nieland also wrote works for organ and choirs along with chamber music, an oratorio, and a piano/harmonium method.
