Composer: * My Own Composition
Sample Producer: Piotr Grabowski
Sample Set: Alessandria, Mascioni (2010)
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Improvisation
Description:
The first "solo performance" recording on the Mascioni from Alessandria -- by far the most RAM-consuming set that I purchased so far! Running this on max settings like I do eats up about 100GB of RAM, even tho the specs on Piotr's site said something about ~60GB...but with my new machine, fortunately that's not a problem anymore! ;-)

Balancing the tuba to an appropriate volume (esp. in the resulting stereo downmix) took me a while indeed, but I think this sort of fine-tuning was totally worth it to not let it just yell at the listener --- time to try that out in a somewhat "contrary" piece, both relaxing AND powerful.

If you think that you heard an apparent resemblance to the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" title theme, you're not mistaken: It was indeed my intention to produce an imitation or variation of it... :-)

For those who own a 7.1 surround system, an 8-channel FLAC file can be picked up here to get an impression of what it will sound like in my living room:
