Description: | Hello, everyone!!
I want to share this beloved Easter hymn with you not only because of its wonderful tune (Judas Maccabeus) and thrilling words, but also because of a personal memory. The first time I selected it for worship after Deacon Emily and I were married, she exclaimed that she knew that tune from her early days in learning to play the violin. So whenever I hear or play this hymn now, I can’t help but think of (and smile about!) both the Good News of Jesus’ resurrection and the joy and light in my wife’s eyes!
This video includes two versions of audio – one followed by the other. The first is the external audio that picks up both the virtual 1928 E.M. Skinner pipe organ and the orchestral voices provided by the Yamaha EL-90 digital organ. The second is the internal audio that only picks up the virtual pipe organ.
By the way, you’ll definitely want to use headphones – the sound of this pipe organ is amazing!! (Be sure to start the volume low.) The words for today’s hymn are below, in case you want to sing along! :)
“Thine Is the Glory”
Tune: Judas Maccabeus
Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son;
endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay.
Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son:
Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom.
Let his Church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing;
for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting.
Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son:
Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of Life!
Life is naught without thee; aid us in our strife;
make us more than conquerors, through thy deathless love:
Bring us safe through Jordan to thy home above.
Thine is the glory, risen, conquering Son:
Endless is the victory thou o’er death hast won.
Amen.
Blessings!
