Description:
Trois Préludes. Dedicated to Mademoiselle Jeanne Montjovet.
Maurice Blazy.
Born: 1873 Paris. - Died: 1934 Paris.

Blazy was one of the surprisingly many blind organists of his time. He was born and died in Paris, where he spent his entire life. Blazy was a close friend and fellow student of Vierne.

Vierne was first a pupil of his uncle Charles Collin, then of Adolphe Marty at the Institut des Jeunes Aveugles, and finally of Franck, the Widor at the Conservatoire de Paris. It was when he was at Conservatoire that he gave informal lessons to Blazy, who was then a 3 years younger pupil at the Institut des Jeunes Aveugles.

Vierne also dedicated to Blazy the Légende from Pièces en style libre.
Also the Elévation movement from Vierne's final composition, Messe Basse pour les défunts (Low Mass for the Departed) is dedicated to his memory.

He was organist of two parisian churches : first Saint-Médard and after Saint-Pierre-de-Montrouge, where Langlais suceeded him when he died.

Blazy died in a tragic accident after being hit outside his house by a truck.
