Jiří Strejc (1932–2010) — Ciacona brevis (1993) for organ
Czech composer Jiří Strejc (1932–2010) was born in Prague. He became a church musician in 1943 (at age 11) in the height of World War II out of necessity, when the organist of his parish in Praha-Lhotka was enslaved into the military industry in Germany. After the war, he earned degrees in music from the state conservatories and spent the rest of his life in Hradec Králové where he was organist at the cathedral there until his death. As a composer, Strejc wrote about 80 works of both sacred and concert music.
