Douglas Bell (b. 1932) — Fantasia circa Holt (2010) for organ
The composer writes: “The Leicestershire mansion Nevill Holt was home to the Nevill family for around 400 years before passing to the Cunards in 1876 and continuing through Edwardian times. From about 1920 until 1998, it functioned as a school before reverting to use a private home.”
English composer Douglas Bell (b. 1932) served as organist of St. Bartholomew’s Church, Marsden, near Huddersfield, England from 1955 until 2003. He was a student of Francis Jackson and earned a Fellowship certificate from the Royal College of Organists. Bell has composed and published many organ works. In addition to his musical pursuits, he played professional cricket for the teams of Huddersfield, Marsden, and Elland.
