Johann Mattheson: Largo und Gigue aus der Sonate F-Dur op.1 Nr. 2

Now the Largo and the concluding Gigue from the Duet op1 No.2 by Johann Mattheson. Thus the sonata, for which I composed a basso continuo, would be complete.
We hear the demo version of the sample set of the Mascioni organ in Allesandria.

And again an anecdote from Mattheson's life.
He was a multi-talented artist: in this late period he wrote music-theoretical writings such as the Generalbaßschule (1731), Die exemplarische Organistenprobe (1731),and Der vollkommene Capellmeister (1739), which was extensively presented and reviewed by Lorenz Christoph Mizler in his Musikalische Bibliothek. He also edited periodicals, such as the first German musical journal Der musicalische Patriot (1728/29), and translated novels and technical literature from English, French, Italian, and Latin.
