Dido's Lament

Dido's Lament is the aria "When I am laid in earth" from the opera Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell. Aeneas falls in love with Dido but departs for Italy leaving her behind. Feeling betrayed, she sets her self ablaze, sings this lament before stabbing herself. Quite a tragic but powerful scene and strongly rendered by Righetti's transcription for organ.
