Description:
William Walond (Oxford, 1719 – 1768, was an English composer and organist.

After four years as Assistant Organist of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, Walond graduated from Christ Church, Oxford in 1757.
His setting of Alexander Pope's Ode on St Cecilia's Day had served as his exercise.
He also published two sets of voluntaries for the organ or harpsichord (1752 and 1758) and the anthem Not unto us, O Lord.

Of his fourteen children, his eldest son William Walond Jr. (c. 1750-1836) became the last 'Organist' of Chichester Cathedral, before the post was merged with 'Master of the Choristers' in 1801.

This piece with a slow intro and a lively Voluntary calls for 2 Cornetto's.

The Introduction (Grave) is played on the Montre 8' and the Prestant 4' of the Grand Orgue, except for the last two bars, where only the Montre 8' is used.

The Cornet part is played on the Montre 8', Prestant 4' and Grand Cornet V of the Grand Orgue; the echo parts on the the Echo Cornet V of the Echo manual.

The disposition made it necessary to change some of the notes, which could not be played because of the manual compass of the Thierache set.

All in all this piece sounds great on this exceptionally beautiful French sampleset.

Bravo to the sampleset recorder and producer!
