Imagine a large organ is sinking under water, but still producing some sound until its last breath, and it does so at 32' pitches even in the manuals. The organ has become sluggish, but some 16' and 32' reeds manage to sound for a brief period before the organ finally sighs its last musical (?) breath at low C. The lamenting sounds finally have come to an end.
Glad this is all just a crazy nightmare fantasy....
All this to demonstrate the enormous and most unusual sound possibilities this large organ can produce.
Herr Maier: Hope you don't mind these somber tones....
I'm OK, not sad, just tired...
