Valse Triste

This is one of the pieces that Sibelius wrote as incidental music for the drama "Kuolema" ("Death"). A sick woman has fallen asleep. Music sounds in the distance and spectral dancers appear. The music gradually intensifies and reaches a frenetic pace. Finally it dies away; the dancers and the woman are gone.
