Thalben-Ball’s Elegy is an ubiquitous stalwart of the organ oeuvre. Improvised at the end of a BBC broadcast during WW2, in the style of Walford-Davies’ Solemn Melody, this piece seems apt for the season of Remembrance. I’ve uploaded another recording of this piece before, using Haverhill and I almost recorded it using Salisbury, but I fancied seeing how it sounded on the Görlitz Sonnenorgel and rather liked the result. I hope you do too.
