| Description: | "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland,
der Jungfrauen Kind erkannt,
des sich wunder alle Welt,
Gott solch Geburt ihm bestellt."
(Martin Luther)
Some ingenious pieces of music can keep you busy for your life time...
For me, this also applies to Bach's Leipzig chorales on "Nun komm der Heiden Heiland". And over time, views and interpretations may change. For that reason, I did a new recording of this fantastic organ work.
The almost endless beautiful and yearning melisms with which every choral line is decorated may possibly symbolize the longing of the faithful for the return of Christ. |
