New Sampleset Day! Evensong just released the sampleset of the 2001 Lively-Fulcher organ of St. Olaf RC, Minneapolis. I had an opportunity to play on the beautiful organ by the same company at Christ Church, New Haven, CT - needless to say I was excited to have a sampleset of an organ by this company whose goal is "To build a small number of organs, one at a time, that are of the highest artistic quality using the finest materials available."

Meanwhile: Looking for something that deserves to be heard more frequently, I found this delightful suite by Pietro Yon, and here present the first three movements. Pietro Alessandro Yon (1886-1943) was an Italian-born organist who lived in the US and is fondly remembered for his Christmas piece "Gesu bambino" and his "Toccatina for Flute" - This suite was published in the year of his death, and as such there is unfortunately only this "First Religious Suite"
Do check out agnus_dei's lovely recording of this complete suite too!

I am hoping to complete this lovely suite this Advent, and I think I am lucky to have this new sampleset on which to realize this. The upload contains:
0:00 | 1. Prelude (Rorate Coeli)
4:13 | 2. Introit (Veni Emmanuel)
6:21 | 3. Offertory (Veni Domine - Hymn for Peace)
