Description: | And now here is another chorale arrangement completely in the style of my great role model Johann Sebastian. Could perhaps also have come from his pen - well - almost .....
The whole thing is based on a motif, a broken triadic line that circles the chorale in all voices. In the interpretation of the chord below the melody, I resisted the temptation to use more modern harmonies, in keeping with Bach's intentions, so that everything remains within the framework of baroque tonality.
The chorale is sung at the turn of the year, so it fits the present time very well. I have taken the chorale melody from the final movement of the cantata BWV190 "Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied" and strictly doubled the note values. I then placed the remaining 3 voices underneath it. As with the previous work, each voice is on a dedicated manual/pedal, which makes the piece unplayable, but on the other hand also allows all the freedom of voice leading.
I hope you enjoy this chorale arrangement and wish you all the best for the coming year, especially good health! |
