Intrada was composed for Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee on June 7th, 1977.
Barry Rose was the organist for the first performance.
When I met Barry Rose and he talked about this piece, he said:
"I asked Grayston (Bill) Ives to composed a piece for the Jubilee Service. He was free to compose a piece he wanted as long as:
1. It was in the key of E flat major
2. Was composed in sections, so if the Queen was walking to fast or slow, it could be adjusted on the spot.
3). Make it sound like Edward Elgar or Parry.
4). Other then these requests, Ives had free reign over the composition! :-)
