American composer Timothy P. Cooper (b. 1986) is a native of West Virginia and was educated at West Virginia University, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and the Hartt School. His principal teachers included Larry Alan Smith, Kenneth Jacobs, John Beall, and David Taddie. Several of his compositions have received regional or national awards, and his work has been performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, the Osso String Quartet, and the College Music Society
