As we approach the season of Lent, lots of wonderful and inspiring hymns are being dug up from the hymnals of many organists. This particular hymn is set to a tune called Hamburg, which was written by Dr. Lowell Mason in 1824. I decided as I was practicing for this Sunday to improvise and reflect on the text as it points to the death and ressurection.
I performed this on the Mascioni organ of Giubiasco by Piotr Grabowski.
