Description:
Heut triumphieret Gottes Sohn,
der von dem Tod erstanden schon,
Halleluja,
mit großer Pracht und Herrlichkeit,
des danken wir ihm in Ewigkeit.
Halleluja.

"Heut triumphierte Gott Sohn" is a Lutheran hymn for Easter. Kaspar Stolzhagen published the hymn in 1592 and its setting by Bartholomäus Gesius was published in 1601. The hymn was adopted in several hymnals, including the Evangelisches Gesangbuch. Composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach based compositions on its hymn tune.

In a few hours I have worked on this beautiful Easter chorale. The cantus firmus is unchanged in the tenor and is framed by 2 upper voices with a beautiful, catchy motif. The pedal part is largely composed of a continuous eighth-note figure, whereby - similar to compositions by J.S.Bach - it is also mostly added as an imitation of the framing motif in sixteenth-note movements, which reinforces the impression that all voices are equal.

I tried several sample sets, the one finally selected from the beautiful organ of Saint-Jean de Luz fits best with the sixteenth-note figure in the upper voices.
