Here we now have a more complex fugue in C major over the melody of a so-called "Bundeslied i.e. covenant song". It is "Sind wir vereint zur guten Stunde" (We are united at a good hour) and it revolves around a convivial male choir that sings a song at a good hour.
The lyrics of this song come from my neighbour Ernst Moritz Arndt, whose house is only a few hundred metres away from my flat.
The melody is by Georg Friedrich Hanitsch, an early Romantic. Originally I also had a set of the song, but it doesn't meet my standards, so I left it out. (You can find it in the attached sheet music).
The fugue was planned for 3 voices, but I wouldn't be NeoBaroque if I could leave it at 3 voices, there are 4 in the coda, which concludes my composition with a radiant C major chord.
