Melissa Dunphy (b. 1980) — Rorate Caeli (2021) for organ

A native of Australia, Melissa Dunphy (b. 1980) immigrated to the USA in 2003 and has become an acclaimed composer with a specialization in vocal, political, and theatrical music. She first received national attention in 2009 for her large-scale choral work “The Gonzales Cantata,” which was featured on network television and has been frequently performed in the years since. Her choral music has been performed by numerous choirs across the country, and she has served as composer-in-residence for the Immaculata Symphony Orchestra, Volti Choral Arts Lab, Volti Choral Institute, and the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus. Dunphy was educated at West Chester University (BM) and the University of Pennsylvania (PhD), where she was a Benjamin Franklin Fellow. She currently teaches music at Rutgers University and is the co-host with her husband Matt of a popular podcast (“The Boghouse”) about the ownership and development of the Hannah Callowhill Stage, a performance venue in Old City Philadelphia.
