Description: | While combing through my works today, I came across this Presto, the 3rd movement of the Duet in G major for 2 flutes by Johann Joachim Quantz. This flutist and composer, who lived during the High Baroque period, taught none other than Frederick the Great how to play the flute. My brother and I also played this piece together in the 1970s, and I would never have thought back then to approach the composition in this way. I turned the duet into a trio sonata by composing a basso continuo for it. It was not an easy task at all, but in the end the result is definitely worth listening to - I think. |
