Description: | Sometimes I think I'm like Telemann .... always something new.
The form is the same as in the previous pieces of mine:
The model is a beautiful song. First I write a 4-part movement in the manner of the great J. S. Bach (of course, I don't come close to him).
This is followed by a trio in the same style, which, as the name suggests, is a 3-part setting of the melody. Here I put the emphasis on the movement of the voices, so you hear a continuous wave that goes through all the voices.
After these first two parts, I am now familiar with the melody and the processing of the tonal material begins in the form of a 4-part fugue. Let's call it a fugato, because the fugue is not quite so strict. This fugue is usually also dynamically a continuous increase and ends with a powerful coda, which is usually reproduced with the full organ. If the melody is in a minor key, the last chord is a major chord.
To return to the beginning, to the origin, the song movement concludes the composition.
The composer of the melody is none other than Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, who left behind a lot of beautiful baroque compositions despite his regrettably short creative period. Unfortunately, he was only 26 years old and died of tuberculosis.
Needless to say, I got the pattern of the song from the beautiful music booklet I bought during my holiday in Avignon.
We hear my composition on the Walcker "NeoBaroque" organ, which delights listeners at the Melcer Chamber Music Hall organ in Warsaw.
Despite its small number of stops, interesting registrations can be set here, and so I also make use of some beautiful combinations.
As usual - you find the score for this sonata attached.
Enough rambling - have fun with my composition!!! |
