Description: | This chorale prelude by Georg Andreas Sorge, a friend of Bach, on the hymn 'Helft mir Gottes Güte preisen' (or the same tune 'Von Gott will ich nicht lassen') is played on the model of the Metzler organ, Poblet, Spain, sampled by OrganArt Media.
Sorge starts with a long opening with three interweaving lines; one in the pedals, two on the manual. It's almost a trio sonata, but then enters the cantus firmus on the other manual. The Cromorne of this organ is clearly French inspired, it gives a nice nasal sound to it.
It's safe to say that I like Sorge's writing, since I uploaded some chorale preludes of him before. It has a lightness in them, but they are at the same time complicated and interesting enough to play (and hopefully to listen to). |
