Composer: Corrette, Gaspard
Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: St. Michel en Thiérache
Software: Hauptwerk VII
Genre: Baroque
Description:
This Élévation, Cromhorne en Taille is in the 'Livre d'Orgue de Limoges', a very fine collection of French baroque organ pieces, mostly from anonymous composers. This piece however is from Gaspard Corrette, it is also part of his 'Messe du 8e Ton', but has some very small differences. I played the piece on the beautiful Jean Boizard organ (1714), stationed in the beautiful monastery of Saint-Michel-en-Thiérache.

Gaspard Corrette was a French organist and composer and is mostly known for being the father of the more famous Michel Corrette. Not much is known about his life. He was probably born in Rouen, where he was organist. Later he moved to Paris. Sadly the only surviving organ work is the mass I mentioned, although luckily it has many parts.
