Walther R. Schuster was the former cathedral organist in Passau. He was born 1930 in Eger (now Cheb) and studied from 1948 to 1950 at the conservatory for church music in Regensburg, then from 1951 at the music conservatory in Munich (organ with Karl Richter).
During his study, 1952, he was appointed as cathedral organist in Passau, after Franz Lehrndorfer, the winner of the contest, had cancelled.
Schuster composed several works for choir and organ. He died 1992 in Passau, only a few months after he had asked for his early release from service.
