No!! Not another recording of Bach's 'Jesus bleibet meine Freude' or better known as 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring'... There are so many already; in the original setting (orchestra & choir) and in transcriptions and arrangements for different instruments. Nevertheless, I really like this transcription by Benjamin Righetti , so I had to try it. And then I pushed the record button and then there was a video. So... another recording of this fine Bach piece.
Benjamin Righetti made a pure trio arrangement of this piece with the chorale melody in the pedal. Just like Bach's Schübler Choräle, which also were organ transcriptions of cantata parts Bach had written before. I think it works very well this way. Besides that, Benjamin transposed it to F major to make it playable on historical organs with a 26-note pedalboard. Of course, that's not necessary for the big Marcussen organ of the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam, but it sounds very nice in this key. I hope you enjoy this fresh approach of one of Bach's most famous pieces.
