Though Kehl's music may seem simple, it's not without it's merit. It does not require a lot of resources in terms of instrument size or technical skill. Yet his music is a prime example of how muchs can be achieved with little means.
Kehl's prelude to the choral "Wir glauben al in einen Gott" is another nice example of his way of writing. The choral melody has a very simple accompaniment. The phrases of the choral melody are interspersed with musical material Kehl directly derives from the first six bars of the composition, providing it some form and cohesiveness. The music itself has the elegance of the pre-classical era. All in all a piece that can be easily used as it does not require much practice.
