This piece is played on a new Hauptwerk release of the organ at Waldkirchen, featuring improved samples and some new graphics. Built and installed in Bavaria by Eisenbarth of Passau, the organ is excellent and very versatile with a bit of a French romantic flavour. Certainly it can produce all the sounds that Lefebure-Wely would have wanted.
I recently played this piece as an exit voluntary in our parish church and a member of the choir said that it reminded her of a fairground. Certainly it has the joyful exuberance that is typical of many of Lefebure-Wely's compositions, but it is one of a set of pieces titled 'religious meditations', op 122 and the Marche is marked as suitable for a church procession or an exit voluntary, so we agreed that I was entitled to play it in church. :-)
