It's the last part of my complet recording of these surprising works. Craig A. Penfield's sonatas are original pieces. Contemporary, but with a lot of different inflences : when I learned them I could hear of course ancient music from late XIVth century and also Bartok's Dances, or in the final of number 23 some souvenirs of Ravel's "La valse". The last one is a french Noël with variations. Final part of Sonata 23 was rhythmically the most difficult to manage (sorry for some wrong notes in the right hand just before the end... my first recording of this final part was played in slower in cleaner way but was not satisfying...it was necessary to take more risks at the expense of some notes).
