Description:
Louis Lewandowski is not the footballer of the same name, but was a German-Jewish composer and organist born in 1821 who tried to combine classical European music tradition with synagogue music. In some synagogues there was and still is an organ, which is used in Jewish worship. Lewandowski composed for this. He died in Berlin in 1894.
