American composer David Nisbet Stewart (b. 1941) was born in Miami, Florida and was educated the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and Smith College. Prior to 1979, Stewart was a college professor and taught music theory, composition, and electronic music at Kent State University and Eastern Michigan University. In 1979, he changed careers to work in computer systems and consulting. He has worked for Stanley Tools, Fanuc Robotics, and Valassis, among other companies. Stewart has also served as a church musician for most of his adult life. As a composer, his works in many genres have been performed throughout the USA and abroad. His major works have been recorded on the Navona record label. |
